COLD SPRING Six people were injured Friday night in what authorities believe was a fight between two rival biker gangs.
The incident occurred at 2741 South Route 9, which formerly was a hardware store and has a barbecue restaurant in back.
Senior Investigator Vincent Martin said that a motorcycle club had rented out the former hardware store and that people who might have been a rival club entered the premises about 8:25 p.m. A fight broke out.
When police arrived minutes later, several people had been injured. Six were taken by ambulance to Saint Francis Hospital in Poughkeepsie and Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla.
The extent of the injuries was not known. No arrests had been made. Pools of blood could be seen inside and outside. Several windows were shattered.
Police said it appeared that no handguns had been used, but blunt objects, such as ax handles, were found.
Investigators were at the scene for hours Friday night, searching for evidence and placing markers outside the building. One marker was placed near what appeared to be a piece of wood.
The scene was roped off by police.
